Executive Officers

Multicultural Greek Council

President: Remie Barrera

  1. Shall preside over all MCGC meetings. He/She will be the Chairperson of all MCGC meetings.
  2. Shall report to the National Pan-hellenic Council (NPHC), Panhellenic Council (PHC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), and the UCB community on behalf of all MCGC member organizations.
  3. Shall meet with all council Presidents on a monthly basis to stay updated with each respective council.
  4. Shall meet with the Director of Greek Affairs on a necessary basis.
  5. Shall meet with the appointed Greek Advisor weekly.
  6. Shall serve as the ex-officio member of all committees, execute and oversee all vouchers for the expenditures of the budget funds.
  7. Shall implement the election process for the election of the Executive Board for the upcoming period. If the President runs for a second term, the Vice-President shall run the election. If both are running for a second term, the council shall elect a member of council to be responsible for the election of the process.
  8. Along with the Vice President of Internal Affairs, the President shall plan two retreats (one per semester) for planning and team-building purposes.
  9. Shall oversee and advise all Officers within the MCGC Executive Board.

Vice President of Internal Affairs: Thalia Rojas

  1. Shall work with the Director of Greek Affairs on a standard review for every member of council during the spring semester.
  2. Shall ensure that all members of the MCGC follow all rules, guidelines, and regulations in relation to the recruitment/rush.
  3. Shall plan and execute programming that fosters MCGC unity.
    1. Socials, mixers, exchanges, etc.
  4. Shall plan and execute an Open House each semester
  5. Shall preside over the meetings in the absence of the President.

Vice President of External Affairs: Roxanne Dominguez-Shell

  1. Shall be the official liaison between the MCGC and the Cal Greeks governing councils. Shall work with NPHC, IFC, and PHC to keep good communication among all four councils.
    1. This includes attending any meetings held by any of the four councils where his/her presence is requested.
  2. Shall have the responsibility of attending programming meetings to keep the President and MCGC informed on all issues, events, and concerns with all non-MCGC members.
  3. Shall promote and collaborate with the MCGC members to participate in various programming on and off campus.
  4. Shall produce a calendar of all events occurring within the council amongst members of the other Greek Councils at the University of California, Berkeley.
  5. Shall preside over the meetings in the absence of both the president and vice-president.
  6. Shall participate with NPHC, IFC, PHC in the Cal Greeks Programming Board.
    1. Such events include Greek Carnival, Greek Week, Trick-or-Greek, and others in which the Cal Greek community shall participate in.

Secretary: Gelene Vuong

  1. Shall take minutes at all the meeting of the MCGC.
  2. Shall keep minutes on file, and submit required copies to members of the MCGC and Director of Greek Affairs no later than one week after the meetings.
  3. Shall be responsible of all the organization correspondence and keep copies thereof on file, and maintain all records of the organization.
  4. Shall maintain and update MCGC email accounts including, but not subject to officer and council list-servers.
  5. Shall keep order at all meetings of MCGC; shall adhere to the time that each activity if allowed unless extended or nullified by the President.
  6. Shall keep a written record of attendance of all members at all mandatory functions; shall keep a separate record of absence and the respective reasons.
  7. Shall notify all members of the MCGC of any meetings.
  8. Shall notify of fines incurred as well as submit collected fined to the treasurer.

Treasurer: Melinda Khoshabe

  1. Shall be responsible for the safe deposit of all funds of the Council.
  2. The Treasurer will chair the Fundraising Committee and is responsible for conducting at least one fundraising event per semester.
  3. Shall issue all chapters of the MCGC dues and fines, and provide regular statements to chapter delegates.
  4. Collect all money owed to the Council and maintain accurate and current accounting records of the organization.
  5. Shall monitor the Council bank account and provide a report to the Council at the beginning of each academic month.
  6. Will propose a budget for each Council event.
  7. Submit grant proposals when permitted
  8. File requests for Purchase Orders where applicable.
