CHAPTER
SUMMARY:
As a Brother of the National Fraternity of Kappa Delta Rho, I have but one aim: to lead an honorable life.
To this end, I am bound by my words and actions to:
Embrace the principles and spirit of the KDR Gentleman, treating all those I encounter with dignity and respect;
Work
diligently in the pursuit of my education, understanding that I am a
student first and that the quest for knowledge will last a lifetime;
Meet
all of my obligations to the Fraternity in a timely manner, so as to
ensure that I am doing my share and that I am not a burden to my
brothers;
Engage in the service of mankind, not for the praise
or recognition that such service may bring, but because it is the right
thing to do;
Serve as my brothers' keeper, holding them accountable for their actions as they hold me accountable for mine, and
Support my Alma mater, that she may view Kappa Delta Rho as a partner in the development of her students.
I
understand that membership in Kappa Delta Rho is a lifelong privilege
that is contigent upon my willingness to incorporate the values of the
Fraternity into my daily life and uphold the oath I have sworn. As I
speak these words I once again affirm to my brothers, and all who hear
me, that I am a KDR Gentleman and I will place Honor Above All Things.
Honor Super Omnia!
MESSAGE
FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Our small town in northern California has no rivals as far as college
towns are concerned. I hope that you have enjoyed the exciting time
that you have spent at Berkeley as a student (whether it has been only
one semester or longer). Berkeley is an exciting and vivacious city
with unique character. Regardless of any decision you make, I know your
experience in Berkeley will be distinguished and memorable.
I
implore you, however, to take advantage of every opportunity at Cal.
Besides studying and achieving academic success, I hope that you will
strive to become a well-rounded individual of the highest character. No
organization at Berkeley gives you the opportunity to achieve such as
Kappa Delta Rho.
As a member of Kappa Delta Rho, every one of
our brothers strives to live by our fraternity’s motto: “Honor Super
Omnia” (Honor Before All Things). We strive for academic excellence and
will not be content with mediocrity in our performance. Our social
lives are such that allow us to nurture our existing friendships and
construct many new bonds. For philanthropy, we donate our time to
better the community around our house at 2739 Channing Way. We all have
the opportunity to serve in leadership positions in our fraternity,
developing our abilities to be responsible, organized and inspiring to
our brothers.

CHAPTER HISTORY : Lambda Chapter of Kappa Delta
Rho began as a local: Delphic Club. It was conceived earliy in 1921 by
students: Ed Storley, John Thum, Merrill Tower,and Henry Green, who
scraped up enough money to rent a house at 2335 Warring. Soon after
they began a rush program which succeeded in the pledging of some
outstanding men. On April 25, 1921, they were recognized by the
University as a local fraternity under the name Delphic. This
fraternity was outstnading on campus as a scholastic organization, and
was usually found at the top of the scholastic ratings for living
groups.
At the same time Delphic was founded, Kappa Delta Rho
was very much interested in an expansion program on the Pacific Coast.
The University of California was an appropriate place to look for an
organization which could meeet the standards of the National
fraternity. As this time, the campus was filled with many outstanding
local organizatios, and mainly because Delphic had men of fine
character of outstanding scholastic qualities, Kappa Delta Rho chose it
to become one of its chapters. In 1923, Delphic had moved to 2600
Bancroft Way and while in this location, was accepted by Kappa Delta
Rho as Lambda Chapter on February 22, 1924.
