On November 17th, volunteers from the Cal Greek Community got down and
dirty at Malcolm X Elementary! They did landscaping, repainting, and
also planted trees. They also touched the local neighborhood by
repainting street barriers, constructing a mosaic, picking up trash, and pulling out
weeds. Down the street at Grove Park, volunteers painted over endless
amounts of graffiti.
IFC Philanthropy Chair Jeff Young says, "It was a really good time! Now every time we drive by the elementary school we can notice a significant difference made possible by the efforts of the Cal Greek community!"
Several of the parent volunteers who helped organize the event said that this was the most successful work day Malcolm X has had since they've been there. The school looks beautiful, with 250 new trees and plants, and areas weeded and mulched! Thanks to everyone for helping out!
