At this year's OSKIs Award
Ceremony (sponsored by the OSL and ASUC), 33 student groups and individuals
were recognized for their outstanding service and leadership
contributions. Congratulations to the following 5 winners from the Greek
Community:
Nikhil
Bhagat (Delta Tau Delta) - Winged Helmet Award
“He was
elected VP of his fraternity as a first year student – a post he held for two
years; he has served on the IFC Judicial Council, and was elected the VP of
Risk Management – a role that entailed significant time and personal
commitment; during this time he established improved dialogue with public
safety and university officials and met regularly with the Berkeley Police and
Fire Departments to address issues of mutual concern. Last semester, his peers
elected him President of the IFC.
This leader is committed to working
towards a unified fraternity and sorority community at Cal and we are hopeful that his
leadership will help us get there.”
Igor Tregub (Alpha Epsilon Pi) - Outstanding Student Leadership Award
“This
individual has worked tirelessly to empower and bring about awareness on
matters relevant to on and off campus life. From organizing voter registration, seeking an extension of Southside and Northside business
hours, and the institution of online
voting for ASUC elections, Igor Treub is a true bridge between the City
of Berkeley and the campus.”
Sloane
Ardis (Delta Gamma) - Emerging Student Leadership Award
“Most
students spend their first year struggling to find what activities they want to
immerse themselves in for their stay at Cal. This recipient immediately took on
leadership roles such as Director of Alumnae Relations and Director of Senior
Programming for Delta Gamma Fraternity.
While also co-creating the Berkeley
Women in Business Club and serving as Vice President of Records. Her
nominator states that Sloane Ardis is an extraordinary person, and embodies the
qualities of a Cal Bear that all students should strive to achieve.”
Gamma
Phi Beta - Student Organization Philanthropy
Award
“Through
their “Mr. Gamma Phi”
philanthropy event, this group raised over $8000 for CampFire USA. In preparation for their event the
sisters of Gamma Phi Beta visited the local chapter of CampFire USA in Oakland to gain a better understanding of
where there efforts were going. Their investment with this organization
translated into their ability to recruit other participants from all across
campus to take part in their philanthropy.”
Panhellenic
Council - Student Organization Philanthropy
Award
“This award
recipient partnered with various student groups, campus departments, the City
of Berkeley, Fire Department and Police
Department in an effort to revitalize the philanthropic nature of their
community. The Panhellenic Council organized or co-organized the following
events throughout the year: Relay for
Life; Cal Greek Clean Up; City Disaster Preparedness Day; Screen on the Green;
Cal Greek Carnival; Greek Week; and Trick or Greek.”
