CHAPTER
SUMMARY:
Kappa Kappa Gamma was the first sorority founded at UC Berkeley -
dating all the way back to 1880. Designed by Julia Morgan, the first
licensed female architect in California, our chapter house was
originally built for Chancellor Gayley before being renovated for its
current use. Our home includes 89 actives in total whose interests
extend to include such activities as PAD (a pre-law fraternity on
campus) and Cal athletics (like Crew and Water Polo) along with
everything in between. The diversity and dedication of our women are
what make Kappa Kappa Gamma the incredible house that it is. In 2005,
we received the Chancellor's Award for Fraternal Excellence, which
Kappa was the only recipient of, because we were able to complete
95-100% of the Greek Standards of Excellence. Also in 2005, at Pi
Province Convention, Kappa was awarded the Risk Management Award and
received honorable mentions for Chapter Efficiency, Scholarship Award,
and Recruitment. Our chapter's mission statement incorporates the ideas
of friendship, support, respect and understanding - traditions that
have thrived for over the past century during our existence here at
Cal, and which will continue to flourish with every new member that
joins our fraternity.

MESSAGE
FROM THE PRESIDENT:
As our mission statement explains - Kappa Kappa Gamma is an
organization of women, which seeks for every member throughout her life
bonds of friendship, mutual support, opportunities for self-growth,
respect for intellectual development, and an understanding of and an
allegiance to positive ethical principles. By becoming a Kappa, and now
President of this organization, I have had the privilege to meet some
very incredible women and do some pretty amazing things - I couldn't be
more proud to be a part of this chapter at this university and can't
imagine my college career without it.

ANNUAL EVENTS: Bid Day, Letter Party, Kappa Karaoke (Philanthropy), Senior Sendoff,
Reading Day/Book Fair, Monmouth Duo (with Pi Beta Phi), Spring
invitational, Fall Date party etc... along with participating every
year in other chapters' philanthropic events.
PHILANTHROPY:
Philanthropy at Kappa Kappa Gamma is as easy as 1, 2, 3. First, we help
our sisters by hosting an Alumni Brunch to raise money for Kappas around
the world who are in need. Second, we help our community by reading books
in classrooms and after school programs at local elementary schools.
Finally, we help the greater good by supporting Kappa Kappa Gamma’s
National Philanthropy, Reading Is Fundamental (RIF). Since 1966 RIF has
distributed 300 million books to more than 25 million children nationwide
and provides programs and services at more than 19,000 sites throughout
the United States and its territories. The Pi Deuteron Chapter of Kappa
Kappa Gamma proudly hosts Kappa Karaoke, a fundraising event that involves
both Greeks and non-Greeks and raises money to support Reading Is
Fundamental.
