Chapter Summary/Information: Kappa Chapter is the first Black Greek Letter Organization founded west of the Rocky Mountains. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a sorority based upon the principles of Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service. Our motto is “Intelligence is the Torch of Wisdom.” We operate and conduct all our activities within our five point programmatic thrust – Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness and Involvement. The aim of Delta Sigma Theta is to serve and act as a catalyst to the community, particularly the African-American community through our public service efforts. Kappa Chapter was chartered on February 21, 1921 on the campus of UC Berkeley. Colors:Crimson and Cream.
