Chapter Summary/Information: Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship – striving to provide each sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities, and social enrichment. On a buzzing campus that can often feel more like a small city, Chi Omega provides a true home and network of friends allowing our women to navigate Berkeley’s dynamic environment. Our eclectic mix of Mu women includes dancers on the Cal Dance Team, Dean’s list scholars, world travelers (many our juniors study abroad in both Fall and Spring semesters), campus Tour Guides, members of pre-law and pre-med fraternities, musicians, Order of Omega executive board members, Panhellenic executive board members, and dedicated students who have continued to rank highest among Panhellenic women with above a 3.5 cumulative house GPA. This diverse group of women supports and celebrates individual pursuits and interests, while still remaining united under the common bonds of a single sisterhood. By joining Chi Omega, our members enrich their college experience by growing personally, academically, and professionally, with genuine friendships and unlimited networking opportunities. The experience of being a Chi Omega prepares women to flourish while in college and beyond.

Message from the President: I could not be more pleased or proud to be President of Chi Omega here at Berkeley. I know I speak on behalf of all our Chi-O women when I say that Chi Omega is not simply an organization on campus, but a fraternal group of unique and genuine women whose sisterly friendships last a lifetime. Our Mu chapter truly exemplifies Chi Omega’s commitment to friendship, scholarship, professional development, personal growth, and community service. Our highest cumulative GPA is a testament to our commitment to excellence in scholarship while maintaining a sisterhood of friendship and love. Our beautiful chapter house is the largest of the sororities at Cal, boasting 30 spacious rooms each with their unique charm and endearing names. Fish bowl is a favorite room for both our collegiates and alumni alike. With a spectacular view of the San Francisco bay, our roof is a frequent hotspot for tanning or evening get-togethers. I love relaxing with my sisters in our beautifully decorated home whether it is in our library, billiard room, study room, or chapter room with a 65’ flat-screen HDTV! Game days are a favorite, as our house is doorsteps away from the fraternity barbeques before each Cal Football game day. This house has truly become a home for me. As a Chi Omega, I know I will leave college with fond memories, a foundation for success, and the best friends I’ve ever had. I look forward to seeing you at recruitment this fall! - Lesley Scheuber

Annual Events: Over the past two academic years, the Berkeley faculty has awarded the women of Chi Omega several prestigious awards. We were named the Top Academic Sorority, Chapter of Excellence, Sorority of the Year, and several Sorority Leaders of the Year. We are continually recognized through our achievements and our involvement. We have won the highest cumulative GPA award consecutively for the past 4 years and are no strangers to the Most Involved Chapter award. We welcome our newest pledge class in the fall with bid day and welcome our parents on Presents during homecoming. We have a fall invitational and a spring formal to celebrate our successes. We enjoy taking part in our own chapter philanthropy event, Frats at Bat, in the spring as well as participating in other fraternity’s and sorority’s philanthropic events. Of course each year offers new and more exiting events that ChiOs eagerly participate in.

Chapter Philanthropy: Nationally, Chi Omega has raised over $4 million dollars for our philanthropy, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, in the last five years alone. In the past two years, our Mu chapter has contributed over $13,000 to Make-A-Wish Foundation. Our Philanthropy event of the year is Frats at Bat, which is a softball competition between the IFC fraternities. We also host an annual Make-A-Wish barbeque on our beautiful front lawn that lends itself to be immensely fun and successful. All proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in order to make a difference in many children's lives. We continue to donate to our cause throughout the year with time, talents, and dollars.

Chapter History: It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind women across the globe. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Chi Omega is the largest women’s fraternal organization in the world with over 300,000 initiates and 171 collegiate chapters.
