Chapter Summary/Information: Alpha Chi Omega was founded as a women’s fraternal organization in 1885 at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. It was established to provide a basis of mutual helpfulness and of congenial fellowship. The purpose of Alpha Chi Omega was to provide the advancement of the intellectual, social and moral culture of its members. Today, Alpha Chi Omega membership exceeds 210,000 initiated members with over 130 active collegiate chapters and 200 alumnae chapters. Since its founding at Cal in 1909, our chapter has grown and the women of Alpha Chi have a strong, vibrant presence on campus and in community organizations. The women of Alpha Chi participate in a wide variety of activities including from varsity athletics at Cal, to pre-law fraternities and pre-business fraternities, service projects, internships and honor societies. We are forever committed to academic achievement, community service and the development of leadership potential and lifelong friendships.
Message from the President: Dear Cal Community, Welcome to Alpha Chi Omega’s page! Here you will get a glimpse of our social outings, philanthropy, academic endeavors, and our wonderful sisterhood. I can proudly say that Alpha Chi totally enriched my four years here at UC Berkeley. When I first entered college and was going through sorority recruitment, Alpha Chi Omega caught my eye immediately. Alpha Chi consists of the most talented, well-rounded, and fun-loving women that I’ve had the pleasure of being friends with. They support and inspire me everyday, and are responsible for making my experience here at Cal a life-changing and memorable one. Most of the women in Alpha Chi are not only involved within the chapter, but with numerous student groups, sports, and organizations on and off campus. I have found all that I wanted and needed in a college environment in our sorority-- academic support, philanthropy, cultural events, a full social calendar, and my best friends. It can get tough being in a large student body here at UC Berkeley, and it was great coming home to a small community! We currently reside in a beautifully spacious house that has an unbeatable proximity to campus, the football stadium, and Greek life. We also enjoy a TV room, an exercise room, study rooms, and an amazing view of the San Francisco Bay. Have fun looking through our website and checking out the multiple events that we hold! I particularly love our sisterhood activities, our main philanthropy event (AXΩ Runway), and our social invitationals and date parties. I know the pictures can only tell so much about us, though, so please contact us if you have any questions! Thank you for your interest in Alpha Chi Omega! Best, Bre Vergess Chapter President Alpha Chi Omega, Pi Chapter UC Berkeley
