Chapter Summary/Information: Alpha Gamma Omega is an organization centered on Jesus Christ and living out our lives in community with each other and in communion with Him. The Berkeley chapter of AGO has members from all different backgrounds and walks of life and denominations, so there is a large variety of people with which we interact consistently. Our chapter is different from other fraternities because our focus is firstly on living together in a way that glorifies Jesus, and secondly on fellowship with one another; although often those two coincide. We also are a true fraternity, in the sense that we will be brothers forever—not only during our days at Berkeley or after graduating, but also after leaving this world.
Message from the President: I pledged AGO in Fall of 2006, my first semester at Cal. AGO has not only given me a network of guys with whom I can interact, but it has also grown me as a man, and helped give me perspective at Cal. Many of us as students come into Cal wanting to do something worth remembering; we want to leave a legacy. I know that through AGO I have become a better person and touched more lives than I would have had I simply concentrated solely on school. This is the kind of legacy worth remembering, and because of AGO, I can leave Cal knowing that I not only have a good degree, but have done something to be proud of.
Annual Events: Service events (long-term and short-term) | Tahoe trip | Bro retreat
Chapter History: AGO was founded by a group of Christian men who decided to create a social fraternity which would maintain a Christ-centered focus. They saw that although nearly every fraternity was founded on Christian ideals of brotherhood, fellowship, and service, few retained that focus, and many ignored it completely, preferring to concentrate on women and parties. Our founders created AGO specifically to stay with its focus on Christ, and to be a place where young Christian men can find support and can continue to grow in a university climate. Although it only began with three men meeting together for a lunchtime Bible study, the need for an organization uncompromising in values and ideals caused AGO to grow to a national fraternity with nine chapters up and down the West Coast.
