The Interfraternity Council is the governing body for thirty-five of Berkeley’s fraternities. Members are selected throughout the year during formal and informal recruitment periods. All undergraduate men are invited to join at the start of each semester, and most fraternities continue to recruit throughout the academic year.
The Panhellenic Council is the governing body for the twelve values based sororities on the UC Berkeley campus that are recognized by the National Panhellenic Conference. Each chapter participates in Fall Formal Recruitment, actively supports a philanthropic cause, and promotes academic achievement and leadership opportunities. The Panhellenic sororities are the traditionally housed sororities on campus.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. (NPHC) is the umbrella organization for the nine (9) historically African-African American fraternities and sororities. Through NPHC, fraternities and sororities work together to promote unity, share ideas, and discuss common goals or problems; however, the ultimate mission of all NPHC organizations is PUBLIC SERVICE.
The Multi-Cultural Greek Council strives to unite culturally based organizations by promoting and uplifting our common heritages and history. As a council we shall uphold our commitment to service, scholarship and the values of sisterhood and brotherhood.
